RTS-Sanctuary

A new community website for real-time strategy gamers has been launched today. It sees the merge of previously separate websites AgeSanctuary (i.e. supporting Age of Empires 3 and Age of Mythology) and DoWSanctuary (i.e. supporting Dawn of War I & II) to form a new community: RTS-Sanctuary.

As part of the launch of RTS-Sanctuary, we have added support for two new games to our website... Age of Kings: The Conquerors and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. Every game we support has an automated replays uploader and a dedicated downloads system. This makes RTS-Sanctuary an ideal place to share user-created content with your friends, as well as discuss the latest strategies and developments in our forums.

The merger of AgeSanctuary and DoWSanctuary sees our user base swell to over 90,000 members. We have well over 100,000 game replays in our database, and we expect this number to rise as we welcome new members to our community.

If you were already a member of either of our websites before the merge, your account has been carried forward to RTS-Sanctuary. We welcome any returning members to our community. If you haven't visited us before, click the link below to visit the new website. Please also register if you wish to make full use of the features available on the new website.

Hope Tournament

From Mayh3m's post at agesactuary.com

We're at it again folks; and this time we are proud to present to you [hope] Clan's AOE3 World Series! This is going to be a somewhat special tournament, and is a celebration of the AOE3 community who have stuck by and continue to enjoy the game. With this in mind, the organisers have worked hard to create a tournament which is sure to be thoroughly enjoyable for all the players involved; and with a prize pool of $1,500, it will no doubt be rewarding too! The tournament will feature new ideas, from region-based group leagues for efficient early round scheduling; to 2 independant final 32-player knockout tournaments, both of which will include the ever-popular loser brackets employed in the successful Last Man Standing tournament. Further good news follows, as we are closely working with our contributors and donators to plan another series of tournaments to follow [hope] Clan's AOE3 World Series. In fact, we are in the early development stage of another 3 tournaments this year, all of which will include the same high level of generous prizes up for grabs. 2010 is certainly looking bright for AOE3! Signups, with tournament rules and regulations, will follow the release of TAD Fan Patch 1.2. Stay sharp!

Bonfire Studios - Another Studio from ES

Apparently, two studios have come from the form Ensemble Studios. Robot Entertainment (which we heard about in the previous news item) and Bonfire Studios. Bonfire Studios' website: http://www.bonfire-studios.com has already posted that they are developing a new game already. According to there website, they have worked on the Age of Empires series (I, II, and III) , Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars. Both Robot Entertainment and Bonfire Studios seem to plan to build new games, though it seems like Robot Entertainment will manage Age of Empires and Halo Wars, as quoted from their press release:

	Quote::

Robot Entertainment is working with Microsoft Game Studios to develop additional content for Halo Wars and support online gaming and community for both Age of Empires and Halo Wars. Additionally, Robot is developing its own original IP.

Meanwhile, it seems that Bonfire Studios will not be involved in Age Of Empires and instead focusing on developing its own games. On their website, it seem clear that there slogan is Warning: Contents Are Hot and they already are offering iPhone and Desktop Wallpapers featuring their company logo.

Robot Entertainment Press Release

As you have probably heard by now, Ensemble Studios (the makers of Age of Empires 3) closed down after finishing work on their Halo Wars game.

Robot Entertainment was then formed from ex-employees from Ensemble Studios, as you would of read about in the last news post.

On the 17th February 2009, Robot Entertainment posted a Press Release on their website, about forming of the new team, and continuing support for Halo Wars and Age of Empires.

	Robot Entertainment wrote:

Founders of Ensemble Studios Announce Formation of Robot Entertainment

PLANO, Texas - February 17, 2009 - Robot Entertainment announced today the formation of its new game development studio in Plano, Texas. Founded by many of the original founders of Ensemble Studios, Robot has a staff of 45 comprised entirely of former Ensemble employees. Robot’s team developed the hit franchise Age of Empires™, selling over 20 million units worldwide, and the soon-to-be released Halo Wars for Xbox 360™. Tony Goodman, the founder of Ensemble, is the CEO of Robot.

"The video game industry is in a state of upheaval,” said Mr. Goodman, “not just games, but the entire landscape. Everything is changing: where we buy games, how we buy games, how much we pay, how long we play, who we play them with. As a fast-moving independent team of game developers, industry leaders and market experts, Robot Entertainment is ideally positioned to play a transformative role in the industry’s future."

Robot Entertainment is working with Microsoft Game Studios to develop additional content for Halo Wars and support online gaming and community for both Age of Empires and Halo Wars. Additionally, Robot is developing its own original IP.

As you can see in the bold, they will be support the online gaming for Age of Empires, along with Halo Wars.

Hopefully this will mean that we will see new patches for Age of Empires 3: The Asian Dynasties, or even if they make the Age Sanctuary Fan Patches official.

We will wait and see, and will keep you informed of any information that we find.
