Simply unreal games. They are all worthy of watch without question. VOD's coming in the next week or so as well, but here are the games from my POV!
One VOD now here!
Much respect to Caesar!
Game One:
British (36drew) vs. Dutch (Caesar)
Map: Siberia
Description: Caesar does the early dutch cav start. Good scouting provides me with critical stable location info. Also as the game progresses I scout a proxy barracks sitting behind his tc. I started with pike only as I saw no sign of skirm's until this point in the game. I go for the normal brit start and am forced to buy some wood early on. My starting crates (2w instead of 3w) are not ideal for this MU. As the game progresses I loose my first push at his TC but do managed to siege a stables. I start to siege a bank and later on I return to finish the job. I had in hussars and my first batch more or less goes to waste as I'm a bit slower than normal today. GG.

Game Two:
French(36drew) vs. French(Caesar)
Map: Yucatan
Description:
I should have won this game early on as I get a fairly large score advantage -- 140-99. However as the game progresses Caesar is managing to have a mass or musks and bows that I just can't compete with. I have some extra wood so I take to the sea. 5 docks or so end up being build by me. Ceasar pushes hard. I sneak 2 huss in the back door and manage to raid about 5 vills. I loose my tc. I have the resources to spam I just am not keeping up to speed. I was not moving as quickly as I could have been... was feeling the pressure. He goes age iii and i'm stuck in age ii without a tc and with no explorer but I don't give up. Miracle do happen, just not in this game.
Game Three:
British(36drew) vs. Japanese(Caesar)
Map: Patagonia
Description:
Musk + cannon semi-ff. Need I say more? I go for age iii really early in this game and say to hell with eco. Who care when you have cannons? I manage to not suicide too many and I keep Caesar running around the map like a mad man. I raze his barracks, consulate, and TC, but he doesn't give up!

Drew wins 2-1!

| Wait a minute... We need another BO3! It's a double elimination tourney! |
The rules don't state this. They aren't the same as the Hope Clan setup.

What? But that makes no sense. Caesár hadn't had the opportunity to lose while everyone else on the tourney did, the rules weren't correct then by default imo :\
edit: It is in the rules: "Tournament type: 1vs1 KO-System + Loserbracket." Losers bracket tourneys work with a double elimination, it is omitted that in the Winners Champ vs Losers Champ finals the Losers Champ has to beat the Winners Champ twice but that's how it works. |
In real-life sport tournaments that used the LB system, the final is never a win-twice scenario if you come from the LB. By going through the LB you have a more difficult journey since you have to win more games and are at a 1-strike out system.
You can't assume the finals are two BO3 when it does not say. With that logic I could concur all sorts of assumptions.
While the Hope Clan tournament may have run that way, every other venue I've participated in does not have this format (golf, curling, etc).

"Best of 3.
Tournament type: 1vs1 KO-System + Loserbracket."
It says Best of 3. It does not say that BO3 occurs twice in the final if the loser bracket player wins.
